How to use the Plan & Locations widget

Goal: see your next shoot and the Locations near you without opening the app.

Steps

iPhone and iPad

  1. Touch and hold an empty part of the home screen until the icons jiggle.
  2. Tap the + button, search for Viewpoint, and choose Plan & Locations.
  3. Pick small, medium or large, and tap Add Widget.

Android

  1. Touch and hold an empty part of the home screen and tap Widgets.
  2. Find Viewpoint and drag Plan & Locations onto the home screen, in 2×2, 4×2 or 4×4.

Then tap the widget to open the plan it shows.

What you will see

  • Your upcoming plans, the soonest highlighted, each with its place, date and time and the sun, moon or Milky Way core it is lined up for.
  • The saved Locations nearest you, with their distance and locality, on the larger sizes.

Tip

The widget reads your plans and Locations from your device, so it keeps working with no signal: handy on the way to a shoot.

If something looks off

  • The widget is empty. It shows saved plans with a date still to come. Save a plan and it appears.
  • The distances are a little off. They are measured from where the app last saw you; the widget never asks for your location itself. Open Viewpoint once to update them.
  • I can’t add the widget. Widgets need Pro; see Widgets for what each widget needs.
