How to save a plan and get alerts
Goal: keep the plan, and let Viewpoint tell you when the conditions at your camera spot come good.
Steps
- Tap the round plan button at the top right of Explore. An amber check in a dashed ring means the plan is not saved yet, or has changed.
- Tap Save. The save sheet opens.
- Name the plan.
- Turn on watching for the conditions you care about at the camera spot, including the Milky Way core window.
- Save. Explore closes and a Saved message appears; tap Open to bring the plan back. On iPad you stay in Explore on the saved plan.
- To put the shoot in your calendar, open the plan menu again and tap Add to calendar. Directions to the viewpoint opens your maps app at the camera pin.
What you will see
- On a saved plan the plan button is a plain white check, and the header shows the plan’s name.
- When you change a saved plan and save again, Viewpoint asks: Save changes to update it, or Save as a new plan to keep the original as it was.
- Your saved plans appear in the Plan & Locations widget and in your shoot plans.
You will know when the conditions at your Location line up: Viewpoint sends an alert for what you chose to watch.
Tip
If you leave Explore without saving, your work waits as a draft on this device, and Continue planning on the Explore page brings it back.
If something looks off
- Save isn’t in the menu. It shows only when there is something to save. A plain white check means everything is saved.
- Add to calendar and Directions are missing. They appear once the camera pin is placed.
- No alerts arrive. Check that Viewpoint may send notifications in your phone’s settings, and that watching is on for the plan.
Saving a plan needs Pro, and watching a Location needs a subscription; see Getting started for what each plan includes.
