Subscription

Viewpoint is a paid app with a free trial. After the trial, the app keeps working only with an active subscription.

Which store bills you. Viewpoint is sold through the app store you installed it from, and that store — not Viewpoint — takes the payment, holds your payment details, and controls cancellation and refunds. On iPhone and iPad that store is Apple; on Android it is Google Play. Wherever this page says “your store” below, that is what it means, and each clause spells out both.

• Two plans, one account rule. Viewpoint has an Offline plan and an Online plan, each billed monthly or yearly. The Offline plan needs no Viewpoint account — you use it with just your store account (your Apple ID, or the Google account signed into the Play Store). The Online plan (server-backed sync, live weather and condition alerts, backup, and sharing) requires a Viewpoint account, so you sign in when you start it. The subscription itself is always tied to your store account, separate from the Viewpoint sign-in.
• Free trial — full access to the plan you pick; the trial length is shown before you start (it differs by plan). Cancel during the trial with no charge.
• Billing — each plan auto-renews monthly or yearly; the yearly option is cheaper per month than monthly.
• Pricing — shown in your local currency on the in-app paywall and in the App Store or on Google Play. Viewpoint is available worldwide and prices vary by country, so they aren’t listed here.
• Payment — processed by your store, never by us. On iPhone and iPad, Apple charges your Apple ID; on Android, Google Play charges the payment method on your Google account. Either way the charge happens at confirmation of purchase (after the trial ends) and on every renewal until you cancel.
• On all your devices — because the subscription is tied to your store account, it’s available on every device signed into that same account: every device on your Apple ID, or every device signed into the same Google account on Google Play. Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall (Restore purchases on Android) to recover it on a new device. No Viewpoint account needed for this. Apple and Google are separate purchases — a subscription bought on one store does not carry over to the other.

• Cancellation — at any time, in the store that bills you. We don’t reproduce the steps here, because each store owns its own menus and changes them; use the store’s own instructions: cancel a subscription from Apple, or cancel a subscription on Google Play.

  Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep access until then.

• Refunds — handled by your store, via its standard request flow: Apple’s at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Google’s through the Google Play refund request flow. That store’s policy applies; we have no way to issue refunds directly for either store.

What the subscription pays for

The fee covers infrastructure costs and the time it takes to keep the app and backend working.

What lapses when the subscription does

Viewpoint is a paid app with no free tier, so if your subscription lapses you’ll need to resubscribe to keep using it. Your captures are not deleted from your device — resubscribing restores access to everything you’d saved.

If a feature doesn’t work as promised

Tell us directly. If a feature in the app doesn’t do what it claims (a forecast that’s wrong, an alert that doesn’t fire, a sync that drops data), email [email protected] or use the message option in the app’s Settings (Talk to Marcos on iPhone and iPad, Message support on Android). We’ll respond personally. If we agree it’s a real gap, we’ll work out what to do about it — including, where it makes sense, backing your refund request through your store’s process (Apple’s or Google Play’s).

Your responsibility in the field

Viewpoint plans and tracks; you go to the place. You are responsible for your own safety, for obeying property access rules, for any permits you need, and for your judgment about whether a location is reachable, legal, or wise to visit. Forecasts can be wrong; tides, light, and weather change. Plan with margins.

End-user license

There is no custom Viewpoint EULA — you don’t sign one — so the licence that governs your copy of the app is your store’s standard one, and which store you installed from decides which:

• Installed from the App Store (iPhone / iPad) — Apple’s standard end-user license agreement applies: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
• Installed from Google Play (Android) — these Terms of Service are the licence. Google does not publish a standard end-user licence for apps sold on Play; Play’s own terms cover your relationship with the store and leave the app’s licence to us. So the page you are reading is it. Google Play’s terms still govern the purchase itself: https://play.google.com/intl/en_us/about/play-terms/

Apple’s EULA does not govern a Google Play installation, and these Terms do not displace Apple’s on an App Store one.

Account deletion

You can delete your Viewpoint account and everything tied to it at any time, from inside the app or from the web without installing it — see Delete your account. Deleting the account does not cancel your subscription: only the store that bills you can do that (see Cancellation above).

Changes to these terms

If we change the terms in a way that affects you, the Last updated date at the top of this page reflects when. Material changes (price increases beyond announced rises, changes to what’s included) will be announced in-app and via the email associated with your account before they take effect.
