How to keep a frame true when you have moved the camera
Goal: after you move the camera pin, get dates that are right for where you now stand.
A frame you draw in the 3D world is the sky as seen from your camera pin at that moment. Move the camera more than 25 m and the same frame no longer lines up, so Viewpoint tells you. Redrawing in 3D is part of Ultra.
Steps
- On the 2D map, look at the frame chip, for example Moon in your frame. When the camera has moved, it turns amber with a ! and reads You moved 120 m · Tap to redraw here.
- Tap the chip. The 3D world opens at the camera where it stands now, with a new draw ready.
- Drag a new box where you want the body, and lift. The dates are for your new Location (Find when it lines up).
When the frame opens in the finder panel on the 2D map instead, its card says how far the camera is from where you drew the frame and offers two choices:
- Redraw here draws the frame again from where the camera is now, facing the same way and the same size.
- Camera back returns the camera pin to where you drew the frame, and keeps the dates it found.
Then tap the checkmark at the top of the panel to keep your choice, with a date you picked, as one undo step. The ✕, Back or a drag down leaves everything as it was.
What you will see
- A move of 25 m or less shows no warning: the frame and its dates still hold.
- After Redraw here or Camera back, the card reads Drawn in 3D and the camera pin and the time move at once, but nothing is kept until the checkmark.
Tip
If you moved the camera only to compare a Location, Camera back is the quick way home: the frame and its dates are exactly as before, with no new search.
If something looks off
- The checkmark is faded. It lights once you have picked a date or made a choice.
- I closed the panel and my camera jumped back. Closing without the checkmark drops the choice, on purpose. Choose again and tap the checkmark.
- I moved the camera in 3D by walking. Walking never moves your pins, so it never makes a frame stale. Only moving the camera pin on the 2D map does.
